Job description management at scale
Career Bird keeps job descriptions current across hundreds of roles, with reviewers, approvers and a record of every change.

Skills-based job descriptions in weeks, not months
Start from existing job descriptions. HR stays in control.

Job descriptions are hard to keep current.
Start from existing job descriptions
- Upload Word documents and PDFs and draft hundreds or thousands of roles at once.
- Keep the original wording, or have Career Bird add the skills each role needs.
- Career Bird suggests a level for each role based on criteria defined in the leveling framework.
- No job description for a role? Enter a title and summary, and Career Bird drafts it.

Approvals, delegation, and a full audit trail
- Delegate edit rights for roles or entire job families while retaining approval rights.
- Edits save as drafts, with each change highlighted against the published version.
- Nothing publishes until an approver signs off.
- Keep every published version with its date in version history.

Career Bird adds the skills each role requires
- Career Bird suggests role-based, core and leadership skills for every role.
- Add custom skill types that match how the business describes skills.
- Career Bird sets a required proficiency for each skill, from Foundational to Expert, and HR can adjust it.

Consistent roles, mapped to every job title
- Every role follows the same structure, from skills to requirements and success metrics.
- Map many job titles to one shared role from the All employees list.
- Career Bird saves each title-to-role match and applies it to future HRIS and CSV imports.

“I’ve followed Career Bird’s evolution from the start, and it’s clear this platform was built by people who truly understand how organizations and talent grow. What stands out most is how Career Bird makes skills the common language across job design, learning, and mobility.”
Don CarterEVP of People & Culture, Kiva“What impressed me most is the depth. It’s not just a checklist of features — there’s a real understanding of how organizations evolve, how skills shift, and how people learn and grow in their careers.”
Heather VeldmanVP of Total Rewards, Go Health“You can tell Career Bird wasn’t just thrown together by software engineers. It’s clear that IO psychologists and HR leaders played a significant role in developing it — the frameworks are thoughtful, practical, and grounded in science.”
Kira MeinzerChief People Officer, Envoy Global“Career Bird connects the dots between job design, skills, learning, and mobility. Instead of separate systems and spreadsheets, we now have a single platform that ties everything together.”
Gail RodmanVP Talent Strategy & People Experience, Unite Us“So many platforms claim to be skills-focused, but Career Bird is actually built that way. It treats skills as the foundation for job design, learning, and career paths. That matters right now because AI is rewriting roles faster than most companies can respond.”
Ted EmersonVP, Head of People“Career Bird is one of the few HR platforms that feels like it was built for the end-user. Teams won’t need a lengthy rollout or training — it’s intuitive, clear, and something managers and employees actually want to use.”
Maureen CalabreseFormer Chief People Officer, Sprout Social and Modern Health“Career Bird helps companies prepare for the future by turning skills data into human growth, organizational agility, and real impact.”
Rishad TobaccowalaFormer Chief Strategist and Growth Officer, Publicis Groupe“Career Bird was selected to participate in the competitive PeopleTech Partners Growth Program as they are building meaningful solutions for Talent and People Leaders aligned with what’s next in work.”

Questions buyers ask
What formats can we upload?
You can upload existing job descriptions as Word documents or PDFs. Employee data is imported from your HRIS or a CSV file.
What role does AI play in creating role descriptions?
Career Bird uses AI to draft role descriptions, based on the information provided and your team reviews, edits, and approves. Career Bird reads the job descriptions you already have, uploaded as Word documents or PDFs, and structures each one into a consistent role description that includes the responsibilities and skills the role requires, at defined proficiency levels. It enriches each draft with Career Bird's library of industry-specific roles, filling gaps in your original descriptions. When a role has no job description, Career Bird generates one from the title, industry, and other contextual inputs. The role's manager and HR review every draft, adding what is missing and removing what does not fit, before anything is published.
How long does it take?
Once the job descriptions are uploaded, producing role descriptions in Career Bird takes a few minutes per role.
Who has permission to edit roles?
HR admins decide who can edit roles, and permissions are set by role or role family. HR administrators can edit any role, role family editors can edit all roles within their family, managers can edit the roles on their own team, and employees can view their role description but not change it. Every edit goes through an approval workflow with redlining and version history, so a change is a proposal until the approver publishes it. HR can also delegate job-family approval to a leader in that function.
Is Career Bird an AI job description generator?
Career Bird uses AI to draft each role from the job descriptions you already have and from its library of industry-specific roles. Your team reviews, edits and approves every role before it publishes.
What is included in each job description?
A summary, responsibilities, success metrics, and the role-based, core and leadership skills the role requires with the proficiency expected at its level. Each role can also include education, certification and experience requirements, and physical job requirements.
Can we send job descriptions to our ATS?
Yes. Approved job descriptions can be sent to your ATS for job postings.
Can we see what changed and when?
Yes. Every published version of a role is kept with its date on the role’s version history tab.
What skill types are included?
Role-based, core and leadership skills, plus any custom skill types your organization adds.
How do we map job titles to roles?
Admins select employees with the titles to map on the All employees list, choose Map titles to role, and pick the Career Bird role. Everyone with those exact titles gets mapped to the role, and their titles stay the same. Career Bird saves the match, so future HRIS and CSV imports apply it automatically, and imports include a step to review role mappings.
